Monument
Gefusilleerd in Soesterberg
Op 19 november 1942
Zij wezen ons de weg
Wij zullen verder gaan
Waar niemand slaaf wil zijn
Kan geen tyran ontstaan
Saturday Self Challenge: Derdenregel
Scavenge Hunt: Op een begraafplaats

Monument in memory of 18 resistance fighters who were fusillated during the Second World War. The statue was designed by Hildo Krop and came about through the CPN (Communist Party in The Netherlands) and the newspaper ‘De Waarheid’(The Truth). The statue stands in the Nieuwe Ooster, a cemetary in the Watergraafsmeer in Amsterdam.
A translation of the text on the pedestal:
For eightteen resistance fighters
Where of 13 were
fusillated in Soesterberg
On 19 November 1942
They showed us the way
we shall go further
where nobody wants to be slave
cannot arise a tyrant
Saturday Self Challenge: Rule of thirds
Scavenge Hunt: on a cemetary
