Aftermath

Aftermath
This rhyolite lava formation was formed 18.5 million years ago by a massive volcanic eruption in what is now Mojave National Preserve. The eruption laid waste to 600 km2 and created the brightly colored, fantastically sculpted rocks at Hole in the Wall, pictured here.

This photo was taken by a Yashica Electro 35CC film camera and COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens with a Pro 52mm (UV) Japan filter using Kodak 135 Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 (6200dpi) and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

I am relieved that I was not at this spot 18.5 million years ago!
