Holy Nopal

Holy Nopal
The noble Nopal Cactus (Prickly Pear) is native to Mexico and is part of the legend and culture of that country dating back millennia. Both the leaf and fruit are edible although the plant, as you can see, has a significant defense system!

This photo was taken with a KИEB-60 medium format film camera and an ARAX (ARSAT) 2.8/80 lens with orange filter and 20mm extension tube, using Kodak T-MAX 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

A note of thanks to Maestro Boris de Swan for not only leading me on this forest expedition, but also developing this film at his home lab using X-Tol, a mere several hours after our return from our trek.
