Full Moon Solstice Celebration
For a week there was a conspiracy brewing. A small group of young foreign adventure travelers camping at the entrance of Tikal, myself included, planned to enter the ruined Mayan temple city and pass the night in the Grand Plaza pyramids to observe the solstice during the full moon.
Propping my camera on a stela and opening up the aperture to maximum, I set the 10-second shutter-release timer to record the moment. The full moon was so overwhelmingly bright that that the exposure was seamless. Note: Although entering the ruins was technically forbidden at that hour we were very respectful and did no harm.
I recommend viewing large to bear witness to our celebration.
This photo was shot from a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC with a COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens using Kodak color slide film and scanned by an Epson Perfection V600.
