Colour from Heritage Park

Colour from Heritage Park
Last summer was a very different kind of summer, due to Alberta's Flood of the Century in June. Most of the parks and natural areas, and Kananaskis (the very popular mountain area west of Calgary), were closed because of all the flood damage. The Calgary Zoo suffered tremendous damage and remained closed for something like the next six months. Other places, such as the Reader Rock Garden, are located in or near some of the worst hit areas of the city and so I kept away for several months, not wanting to drive unnecessarily in areas that had so many repair and clean-up vehicles that needed the roads to themselves. This all meant that I took far fewer flower photos than usual - which made a visit to Heritage Park with my daughter and several other photographers, in September, extra enjoyable when I found a garden full of these colourful blooms..
