Canada Buffaloberry berries / Shepherdia canadensis
I think these green berries that have not yet turned red are quite attractive with all their spots.
"Canada Buffaloberry, also known as Russet Buffaloberry, Soopolallie, Soapberry, or Foamberry, is one of a small number of shrubs of the genus Shepherdia bearing edible red berries. The plant is a deciduous shrub found in open forests and thickets all over North America.
Fruits are extensively collected by some Canadian First Nations peoples such as Nlaka'pamux (Thompson), St'at'imc (Lillooet) and Secwepemc (Shuswap) in the province of British Columbia. The bitter berries are not eaten directly but rather processed as sxusem ("sxushem", also xoosum/"hooshum") or "Indian ice-cream"." From Wikipedia.
Humans are not the only animals that eat Canada Buffaloberry. The fruit is enjoyed by many bird and mammal species, and is a special favourite of BLACK BEARS. If you find yourself walking in an area where there are a lot of these bushes with red berries, it might not be a bad idea to leave and find somewhere else to walk, ha.
