Feathers of ice
Yesterday, I was out for a walk, keeping an eye open for any birds. It was very quiet and slow, and I had to chuckle to myself when I caught sight of this thin ice formation on the creek - I was beginning to think that these frozen "feathers" might be the only feathers I was going to see that morning. However, a short distance further, and the highlight of the morning was seeing a teeny Northern Pygmy-owl (the size of a pop-can or a clenched fist)!
