Tiny Tree Tribble? No, It's a Small Wasp Gall! (6 inset pictures!)

Tiny Tree Tribble? No, It's a Small Wasp Gall! (6 inset pictures!)
6 pictures in notes above (and 1 text note)showing another kind of gall known as an "Oak Apple"!

This is a small gall from the Speckled Gall Wasp forming on an oak leaf and is about 1/3" in diameter, and inside there is a tiny larva growing! It will continue to grow until it's about 1" in diameter and develop pretty speckles all over it.

What a great pic, Janet. These galls are really something. Wonderful shots all and some of these galls are really very pretty too!

Love the furry texture of this one (tribble indeed). Never knew these existed at all, let alone all the different types you have shown. I think I can safely cancel the Nature channel now that I have found you.
