7 Keyhole Slot Canyon, Gold Butte Natl Monument (10-18-22)

An unusual slot canyon in Gold Butte National Monument, in the extreme southeastern corner of Nevada. Instead of just being a "slot", the canyon widens out into a circular cross section at the base. The cross section looks like an old-fashioned keyhole upside down. There are about seven sections--hence the name. The host red sandstone is the Aztec (Navajo) Sandstone that accounts for so much spectacular country in this part of the world.
