Granite

Granite
A granite outcrop off the Wolf Creek trail in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness, Sierra Nevada, California. The bright speckles are large crystals ("phenocrysts") of potassium feldspar a centimeter or two across. I liked the way the sun angle highlighted them!

Gudrun, Annemarie, Pam J, William Sutherland and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo
