Fish Lake

Fish Lake
Another one of those generic names! This Fish Lake is a natural high alpine lake (elevation ~8500 ft, 2700 m) in central Utah. It fills the low part of a fault-bounded valley; i.e., a graben. The monsoon rains were in fine form! Looking (more or less) south. The inset shows a slightly different view.

Quaking aspen! (Populus tremuloides) In North America, a white-barked tree is nearly always aspen, at least in the west. Curiously, despite their outward similarity birch and aspen are not closely related.
As I've noted elsewhere, when scarred, aspen bark heals black, which has made them a target for graffiti artists for decades:
