Fine shot . A beaver influenced floodplain?

Thanks, Andy! Probably not--the amount of water year-to-year is hugely variable. Check out the satellite view--the whole area was dry when it was taken! Beaver would have a tough time making it thru the droughts--

This topography of flats interspersed with hills is typical of this whole area, and I think it's a southern extension of the Modoc Plateau. It's locally cut by some high-angle faults, probably related to the Basin and Range.

Terrific shot full of interest, large animals live in the area?.

Well, they're running some cattle! ;) As far as wildlife goes, the big(gish) herbivores would be mule deer and maybe a few pronghorn. For predators, there may be a bear or two, plus a rare cougar (aka mountain lion, puma).
