Elwha River
On the north side of the Olympic Peninsula, Washington state, just inside Olympic National Park. Looking south. The Elwha flows north into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, meeting it at Port Angeles. About a century ago a couple of dams were built on the Elwha upstream from here, with the consequent destruction of the salmon run. The dams were removed a couple of years ago and the salmon have started to return.
