The Sagebrush Steppe

The Sagebrush Steppe
Ione Valley, Nevada, looking northwest. The gray-green shrub is in fact sagebrush, and "sagebrush steppe" is a geographer's term for the large area of the mountain West where it's a dominant element of the flora. Sagebrush is an unprepossessing plant, but it's nonetheless very successful! It belongs to the same genus (Artemisia) as the Old World wormwood.
The map position is approximate.

Thanks! I suspect it would grow fine, all by itself, but with other plants it would get outcompeted and crowded out. That's often what limits a plant's range--it could grow just fine, but other things grow better.
