Carson River
Down to a series of disconnected pools last year--and this year's no better. These trees are the Great Basin cottonwood, Populus fremontii, which is common around springs and other bodies of water. They're short-lived trees and prone to breaking in the wind, so they're _not_ the best choice for an ornamental!
