Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "School Days".
I've had an incredibly busy summer, and have missed several themes. (Darn!) Anyway, I've just renewed my membership and hope to get back on track. (Although I'm daunted by the "Tools" theme.)
This photo was very kindly given to me by a library patron who was clearing out her mom's things after she had passed away. She also gave me some other cool photos and an album.
Interesting to see an integrated classroom. I don't have any other vintage photos that show this.

My 8th grade yearbook has many "altered"photographs, including devil horns, blacked out teeth, droopy, scraggily hair, etc. When I look at them, I can still remember the dislike I held for them, too. *guilt*
When we moved here in 1964, bussing had just been ordered in New Haven, CT in order to integrate classrooms. Of course, I was fairly clueless as a ten year old, but I do remember white tension and some of the racist comments - including, shamefully, from teachers.
I do think this is one class, Alan. I think that was not an unusual number, in those days.
