This is an extraordinary picture of an ordinary activity. What makes it special is the inclusion of points of interest both foreground and behind; the fabulous replication of the kettle profile with your face in profile; the leading line created by your feet and legs; and the steam from the kettle spout which provides dynamism and activity. Whoever took this picture had a good eye.
Polaroids are notorious for losing vibrancy, detail and contrast. Even the black and white ones do this. Most photo software can arrest the decay and restore colour and - to some degree - acuity. You need to scan the polaroid into the computer to do this, although taking a photo of a photo might be adequate.
I love the reflection of the light on your forehead and cheek. The teapot is nice too.

Thanks, Limbo! My husband -to- be took this Polaroid - and currently is feeling quite pleased with your kind, insightful comments.
As for me, I remember rolling my eyes at his "set-up", favoring a quicker no fuss approach - especially being the subject.
This photo was scanned several years ago and is in my iPhoto collection (also in a physical album.) Although I often color correct after scanning, this one has not degraded at all.
