Thanks, Laura! Yes, I love the buttons and also the chain that fastens on her blouse and skirt. This photo was a little damaged - wear and tear - and a friend from the old flickr days did a nice touch up job for me!

I did notice the chain as well - that I've never seen before.

It's a wonder to me that no one ever tried to hold at least a bit of a smile for these long exposure photographs. Though maybe it was also the idea that it is more elegant or dignified to not smile. Like one might do for a formal painting portrait.
