Louise Pyk by Florman
Louise Pyk (1849-1929); Swedish soprano.
She studied on the Royal College of Music Stockholm as a student of baritone Fritz Arlberg. In 1873 she debuted at the Royal Swedish Opera as Agathe in Weber's "Der Freischütz". To complete her vocal training she went to Paris and became a pupil of Pauline Viardot-Garcia. From 1874/77 she was engaged at the Royal Opera at Stockholm. In 1878 she made an extensive tour through Sweden. In the following years she only made guest appearances (London, Leipzig, Copenhagen etc.). In 1883 she went to the USA, where she was very successfull for a period of ten years. In 1893 she left the USA and returned to Stockholm. There she appeared as a concerto soloist and a vocal coach.
