The Cap San Diego was built in 1961 as a general cargo ship. It ran a regular service between Germany and South America. It could also take about 12 passengers. Container ships meant the end of this type of ship. It was rescued from the scrapyard in 1986 and turned into a museum. It is still seaworthy.
