Bouwelouwensteeg

In 1406 this alley was called Boudijn Louwensteghe, but it is unclear who Boudijn Louwen was. The name changed into Bouwen Louwen and now Bouwelouwensteeg.

It used to be an alley full of poverty-stricken people with no manners, so for a time "Are you from the Bouwelouwensteeg?" became an expression used for people with no manners.
