Dutch playing cards from 1920-1927: King of Hearts
The ace of hearts has a playing cards tax stamp (of 50 cents), so it can be dated to the time the tax was in place. Playing cards were smuggled from Belgium to evade this tax, so in the end the tax was abolished.
These cards were produced by the Dutch playing-cards factory "Nederland" located in Amsterdam. "Nederland" existed from 1909 to 1969. In 1969 it was taken over by Van Genechten. In 1970 it became Cartamundi.
