Renovation project Ripperda
The Ripperda barracks were built for the cavalery in 1882. Now it is renovated and it is to become a housing/business estate.

The Ripperda barracks were named after Wigbolt Ripperda who was the governor of Haarlem during the siege of the Spaniards in 1572-73. The city surrendered after seven months because of lack of food. Ripperda was murdered by the Spaniards on July 16, 1573.
