Monotone Photography
I was never much one for black and white photographs; when I was a child, my mother could not afford color film, so just about every photo she took of me was in black and white. When I grew up, I turned my back on the monotone look in favor of color. It wasn't until my interest in photography led me to meet photographers who snapped some very compelling monotone images that I discovered the beauty…

Another one of the many childhood photos I am restoring that came from my mother's album. This one is of my sister Bridget and me (on the left), dated July 28,1968. I was 11 years old and Bridget was 8. It was taken in one of those booths you find at amusement parks.

Another in a series of childhood photos I am restoring. This one was taken Thanksgiving Day, 1957. I am the baby in the center with my father looking over my shoulder. I was 14 months old at the time. Pictured on either side of me are two of my cousins who were also 14 months old.

My sister and I are sharing the project of restoring our childhood photos, so needless to say, it's been fun going back in time! This image was taken either July or August of 1958, making me nearly two years old at the time. One thing I love about looking at these photos from so long ago is that I can see my life from the eyes of my parents who snapped them.
As I continue to work on these images, I will post some of the best ones in the coming weeks.
Have a great Thursday, everyone! Hugs to Pam!

Saturday Self-Challenge: Frame within a Frame in Black & White
The toughest part of the challenge was finding a suitable subject to shoot! After several failed attempts with different things, I finally chose a couple of my photo books that I display on the coffee table.
Have a great weekend, everybody! I wish Pam a healthy, happy week ahead!

Saturday Self-Challenge: "One"
How can you make a composition interesting when using only one subject?"
I've always been fascinated with the simple beauty and functionality of an hourglass. I keep this one on my coffee table.
Have a wonderful weekend, Pam and Ipernity Friends!

Saturday Self-Challenge: High Contrast in Black and White
One of the biggest challenges was finding an appropriate subject that lent well to ramping up contrast. This antique mason jar qualified beautifully. After converting to black and white, I increased contrast as far as I could go without blowing out the image.

Macro Mondays 2.0: Something Scary
There are a number of things in my home that are scary, but I decided to go with comic scary. This is Rat Fink, a cartoon character that was very popular among boys of my husband's generation. As a matter of fact, he likes the character so much partly because it shares the same initials with him; R.F. :-D

Saturday Self-Challenge: Glass in Black and White
This week's challenge was a great opportunity to do two things I like: photograph glass and play with monochrome. I was spoiled for choices this week! The image above was taken of a beautiful glass candy jar I received as a gift from a patient I treated during my time as a Physical Therapist. Other photos I took of the jar and of some old bottles are below in the comment section.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
