Saturday Self-Challenge: Tilt Shift Effect

I wish I had more opportunity to take photos that would suit this effect. I went to Tidings Park in Havre de Grace, MD . I brought my camera only to find out that I forgot to put the SD card in it. I thought I had spares in the camera bag, but they, too, were at the house! At least I had my phone camera, so all was not lost. I took a variety of pictures of the bay and boats as well as this docking pier. I didn't realize there was a man walking on it until I finished taking the photo. So I decided to make him the "miniature" subject. I want to experiment some more in the future. Another experiment I did with tilt shift effect is in the note.

Je suis réservé sur l'effet de flou artificiellement réalisé en post-production. A trop abuser de ce type d'effets on s'éloigne de la photographie pour tomber dans le "photographie".
Dommage car la prise de vue était intéressante.

Die Idee ist gut, aber der Effekt stellt sich aus der Perspektive
nicht so ein wie man es sich erhofft.
Man muss viel "Üben" um den Effekt zu erreichen und
oftmals fallen einem die passenden Motive nicht auf.

Yes, a miniature man for sure :-) The symmetrical composition has worked really well here, Val. It is very true that the best camera is always the one you have with you. When we went to Milton Keynes I didn't take my camera but I always have my phone and that was really handy when I saw a possible subject :-)

I've never heard of this before - tilt and shift effect. I can see that the top and bottom of the picture is blurred, yet the rest of the picture is in focus. Is that what you mean? I think you have taken some wonderful pictures, even if it was with your phone. Nowadays some phones are better than some cameras.

The same happened with me 10 years ago in a day out, I had my phone, an iphone3, but the performance were not what they are today, smartphones are now a lot better! The man looks like miniature indeed.

Great perspective!
Looking at the photo it is hard to know how tall the posts are, which really adds to the illusion.
I guess something like the Ames room...
