The End or the Beginning?
Saturday Self-Challenge: Feelings about the closing of Ipernity...
The news about Ipernity's closure next month is a very hard pill to swalllow, and all of us who love this place are sad, angry, anxious or a combination of all. For many members, this has been the best place for developing a tight knit community of photographers who wish to interact in a meaningful way with one another. Over the past three years, I had the opportunity to develop friendships with other like-minded individuals from all over the world, made easier through the helpful feature of a buit-in translator. This is only one feature among several that makes Ipernity the choice for me. As far as I know, no other photo sharing site on the internet offers the combination of features that ipernity does. How sad it will be to lose this site! That being said, a ray of hope still exists for Ipernity to be saved by the right buyer; negotiations continue as I speak.
I chose a dying flower bloom to represent my feelings about this situation because it can mean two different things: death or life. Death of the bloom, but life for the seed that the bloom creates. Which will it be for Ipernity?
Update: Since I have written the above message on Dec. 10, 2016, the picture looks a little better for ipernity. There may be a way for the site to be saved, but much work lies ahead for that to happen. In the meantime, the IP Team has extended ipernity until February 28, 2017 to work out a way to save it from closure.

I lived this situation twice: when Panoramio closed, the 4th of december. I and many other friends migrated here, in order to go on sharing photos and emotions, certain that IP had the same particurities of Pan....
Let's hope, let's hope !!
Warm greetings
