Waterland/IJdoorn (non-city birds)
Folder: Birds (in categories)
Black-tailed Godwit / Grutto (Limosa limosa)
A juvenile. He was a distance away and I used an extender, which I don't like to do, not when the resulting shot doesn't have the bird filling the frame. Instead I had to crop as well, so not too much detail on the bird. Still, my first juvenile Godwit so I've added it to the set.

He came too close...
The whole colony was up in the air, alarmed by a buzzard passing over.
Reed Bunting / Rietgors (Emberiza schoeniclus)
This was the best one of a small bunch of shots. It's a big crop, but this is another lifer so I'm sharing anyway.
Oystercatcher / Scholekster (Haematopus ostralegus)

Common Buzzard / Buizerd (Buteo buteo)
And there was also this guy this morning. A beautifully light coloured Common Buzzard. He was a distance away and it's a bit of a crop, but he's so handsome that I've uploaded him anyway.
EDIT: I just learned that this particular bird is known by the local birders as "The White Buzzard of the Poppendammergouw" (the region where it resides). How cool is that?
Waterland just after sunrise.
So, what are those odd dark lines in the sky that diverge from or converge at the horizon? The sun is behind me and just above the horizon as this was taken just after sunrise.
