Swap Postcard 1
|
|
We're in the International Postcard Swap for Families 2011, organized by Zoe Toft of the blog "Playing By the Book":
www.playingbythebook.net/2011-international-postcard-swap...
We made our postcards from recycled boxes (like cereal boxes, cookie boxes, cracker boxes); all the images are historical photos of women and children, and all are from Flickr Commons. The painted backgrounds are by me, the sharpie marker parts are by both me and my daughter. There's also some rubber stamping and inking. Sealed with Mod Podge.
This image of a woman and child is from the Australian National Maritime Museum uploads to Flickr Commons.

All wool, double-stranded throughout, constructed in one large rectangle and seamed up the back.
Crochet Alteration (detail)

|
In this view of my crochet-altered jacket, you can see the side seam and edge detail (two silk yoyos with pale-peach round buttons); and you can see the inside view of the other side seam, to get a sense of the construction.
Crocheted Red/Maroon/Grey Hat

I made this from random stash yarns, right around the same time I saw "The King's Speech," which would account for the 30s style. ;)

Thought I should really wear a hat if I'm posing with Birdie and Sidonie. Thanks again, Smithsonian folks!
