It so happens that Murray is one of the writers and thinkers (if not the principal one) whom I most respect and agree with, and any connection with him, however tenuous, is something I value. I'm comforted and reassured to hear that he's onside with Trump which I myself am increasingly becoming.

St Benedict's Church (the school is adjacent to it) is no more than 450 yards from here, where I've lived all my life, yet I'd never before photographed it. Handsome as the building is, it isn't historic, having been founded only in 1899, and the West front, seen here, dates only from the 1930's. I've only been inside twice (I'm not a Catholic), the last time for a funeral service, and the other for a wedding, 60 years ago. Yesterday I just happened to walk past it; no camera on me but my ancient iPhone did a reasonable job.

You're lucky to have lived in the same house all your life, despite seeing the many carbuncles springing up around you. I recall saying to you that there must be some nice places in Ealing, and this is clearly one of them.

Trump's election has brought hope in these dark days of leftist dictatorship.

1. Not carbuncles as such but the thousands of tacky, matchbox-like townhouses and cheap flats which were thrown up in the 1960's littering what was once called "The queen of the suburbs".

2. Yes, it has brought hope, but I fear that in office, economics, realpolitik and military necessity will tie his hands. But let's wish him luck.
