Howard Somerville club has replied to Andy Rodker clubOddly, although I'd been to Strand-on-the-Green dozens of times over the years, yesterday (when this was taken, at midday) was the first time I'd ever taken any pictures there. It was an ideal (and rare) opportunity to - the pubs closed, hence fewer people around, a sunny day with blue sky, and the river high, and the trees not being in leaf, the buildings visible through them.
And more amazingly, at this very spot, I saw a black seal. As friendly as a puppy dog, I read that he's the only seal known to live further upsteam than Hammersmith, and is known to locals as "Sammy the Seal".
Andy Rodker club has replied to Howard Somerville clubI came here on about a dozen occasions between 1979 and 1982 so probably didn't see you! My brother lived for a time at Hanwell and we used to meet here or at The Viaduct pub on the Uxbridge road. I lived in Harrow at that time, so we also met at a few of the good pubs on Harrow-on-the-Hill.
