1971 Masi (Milano) Gran Criterium

Purchased on eBay from Sterling Peters (second owner) for $998 in May 2008. Back on the road 3 October 2009.

The Restoration (frame by Brian Baylis)
Purchased as a complete machine, this had been repainted by the first owner in the original colour but with inaccurate c.1973 pattern decals and the chrome fork crown overpainted. Frame repainted in the original colour, fork crown and ends rechromed and the accurate “interim” pattern 1971 decals applied. Most of the components are original although the wheelset was not and replaced by one from a 1974 Masi GC. NOS Everest freewheel and chain. NOS Cinelli Unicanitor saddle. Cinelli Giro d'Italia 'bars replaced by period correct Cinelli Criterium 'bars.

Material: Reynolds 531 double butted tubing main frame and Columbus SL forks and rear triangle.
Finish (Brian Baylis repaint): orange-red with yellow lug cut-outs and 1971 pattern decals.
