Frank Bonefaas (IMO: 9074951)
Folder: Ships of Sunderland
H72 Frank Bonefaas
The trawler Frank Bonefaas moving north off Sunderland. With a length of 119 metres, it is the largest fishing ship registered in Britain, as well as the only 'super trawler' (length >100 metres). It is owned by the Dutch company Cornelis Vrolijk and has a licence for catching almost 25% of the entire British fishing quota.
Besides the obvious issues related to these very large fishing vessels of overfishing and 'bycatch', the owners also have a controversial past, being fined £102,000 for illegal fishing in 2015 .
