Mediterranean Cruises, 2010, 2013, and 2016
Folder: Crusing Travel
We have cruised the Mediterranean more than once. In 2010 on the Holland-America Prinsendam, we saw the Holy Land, Turkey, Greece, and Italy.
In 2013, the Maasdam took us around the mostly western Med, including Morocco.
In 2016, we saw the eastern Med, including Turkey (could not get off the ship), the Greek Islands (amazing), and other great stops.

Old Walls of Ephesus (HWW)
More ruins on the hills above Ephesus (which are great ruins in themselves.)

Along the Bosporus (HFF)
During our cruise along the Bosporus, we saw some really big homes. Some of these had been palaces, we were told. Not sure on this one, but quite a pile.

"Lighthouse" Near Kotor, Montenegro (HWW)
Our cruise ship passed this lighthouse on the way into Kotor. While the modern ATON is definitely a light, the original structure may have been a customs building or such, perhaps guarding the approach to Kotor. The walls are quite impressive for this small enclave nestled between towering mountainsides and the water.

Valletta, Malta, Barrakka Lift Panorama
When we took this amazing elevator up to the gardens and fortress in Valletta, Malta, I wanted to get a good photo of the lift system. However, my main camera didn't make panoramas. So, I made a "vertical panorama" with the phone.

Dubrovnik Church (HFF)
During one of our visits to this remarkable town, I spotted the red church door through the iron fence that surrounded the church.

Fortress, Bodrum, Turkey (HWW)
Our view across the bay of the fortress at Bodrum. Called the Bodrum Castle. Quite impressive. Do look up the history in Wikipedia (for instance). The castle was built using the ruins of the famous Tomb of ancient history.

Venice Park (HBM)
Taken from the cruise ship as we left Venice. This lovely park is located away from the crush of tourists and St. Marks. You can see the folks enjoying a sunny day and the pleasant benches. (And a close-up view of a cruise ship as it sails past..)
It appears that these are the Giardini della Biennale.
