Canada Tour / Morley

Canada Tour / Morley
Seen on the way to Banff,
The McDougall Memorial United Church, Morleyville
Morley is a First Nations settlement on the Stoney Indian Reserve in southern Alberta. It is located along the Canadian Pacific Railway between the Trans-Canada Highway and the Bow River, upstream to Ghost Lake.
The settlement and Indian Reserve are part of the Stoney Nation.

The historic McDougall Memorial United Church is located a few miles from Morley. Built in 1875, it is the oldest surviving Protestant church in southern Alberta and the oldest surviving building in the Bow Valley. On May 22, 2017, it was damaged by fire, presumably arson. Restoration was completed in 2022. It was once part of Morleyville, the oldest pioneer settlement in southern Alberta and home to the first cattle herds. Morleyville was founded by Methodist missionaries as a mission station and existed until 1921. The church is now a historic site.

Erhard Bernstein, Dimas Sequeira, Nicolas Mertens, gezginruh and 29 other people have particularly liked this photo

Great information on this area - thanks. You were there in June and it's such a shame that the weather wasn't very kind to you.
