With this picture our journey through the Piemont ends

The death of General Desaix (1768-1800) in the battle of Marengo,
General Desaix joined Bonaparte in Italy in May 1800, where French troops faced the Austrians.
He joined Bonaparte's army on the eve of the battle of Marengo and took command of a light infantry brigade.
However, during the conflict with the Austrian forces, Desaix was mortally wounded and died at the age of 31.
The body ,was transferred to the hospice in Grosser-Sankt-Bernard and buried in the chapel of the hospice.
