I am pleased you found it interesting, and nostalgic for your trip.
It might be said that this is one of the classic shots of the line, as it is such an easy place to get to. Of course when we planned the trip we had no guarantees of the weather. This morning was cold, but not much snow. The next day was clear blue sky, and deeper snow in the mountains.
I suppose the key is to time it so give enough vapour around the locomotive without obscuring it..
Best Wishes, a good week ahead, and keep safe!!

I'm jealous of your winter visit to the Harz. I have been a few times but only in summer/spring so no snow. It's a great trip whatever the weather but snow on the mountains makes it magical.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

As you know, cold weather and steam locomotives make great pictures, so worth finding time to come in winter.
As for jumping clear, no, we didn't move! The locomotive avoided us!
Best Wishes, a good week ahead, and keep safe!!
