The 'Pink Supermoon' rises, as seen from the new Langford cemetery.
What is a Pink Moon?
.According to the Maine Farmer's Almanac - which first published the Native American names for the full Moons in the 1930s - the name is derived from one of the first flowers to bloom in spring; the Wild Ground Phlox, which also went by the name “moss pink.”
The first full moon of April - which also goes by names such as Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon or Fish Moon - is traditionally a sign of both springtime and Easter.
What is a supermoon?
The moon - our planet's only natural satellite - actually follows an elliptical orbit around the Earth.
This means that at certain points on its egg-shaped path, it can be further away, or closer to us - a differential of about 30,000 miles.
The closest point is called the perigee, and the furthest is the apogee. When a full moon falls on the perigee, it appears far bigger and brighter in the sky and becomes known as a supermoon. A supermoon happens when the moon reaches the closest point to Earth in its 27-day orbit and it happens to be full, which occurs approximately once a year

All the very best over this most unusual Easter ,stay safe.
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Steve Paxton clubYour visit is most welcome. Thank you.
I am pleased you found it interesting.
This is not so far from my home, so I went there by bicycle (which is allowed). It would have taken ages to walk On my way back home the streets were deserted!
Needless to say I had calculated where the moon could be found, and when, then arranged to be there, wooden stake ready just in case!! I didn't use a flash, I illuminated the cross with a hand lamp for a couple of seconds.. (Painting with light)
Best Wishes, stay safe, and a Happy Easter,
Peter

Yes I live in a beautiful place and this recent image is a 5 minute walk from my house. Another bonus is I also can access my local golf course in 5 minutes in the other direction. So lucky me.

As I said to Steve Paxton, I was able to legitimately go there, so just a case of finding an appropriate grave marker, and setting up the camera (and taking as many variations as possible!).
Best Wishes, stay safe, and a Happy Easter to Hazel and yourself.,

Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Herb Riddle clubYour visit is most welcome. Thank you.
I'm happy that you had a good look!!
Let us think to how many times we have soon the moon rise in a misty sky, so feint we can hardly see it, then it gets brighter as it comes above the cloud and out of the haze....
As you guessed it was researched an planned, and I am really honoured that you have taken the effort to look and figure it out.
Thanks again
Best Wishes,
Peter
The setting and the picture is so beautiful! I am very impressed with this shot, as Herb says, not technically easy! I think it is my favourite of all the moon shots I have seen, and with that extra touch for Easter with the cross, it looks superb.
Best wishes, Rosa.
