Your visit is most welcome! The sea on the north side of the island is much more aggressive than that on the south, hence plenty of big waves and, as you say, lots of white foam.

I am happy that you have enjoyed it. It was a little colder than the south side, but still much warmer than England!! The rocks receive a regular splashing, and so are pretty well wet all the time. Hence shine!!

It was a nice beach, pity I couldn't have stayed longer..
The whole island is volcanic, and so no golden sands here!! None the less a nice place to sit and watch the waves. Glad you like it.

The contrast between the dark basalt and the white surf is very striking! I can nearly feel the sea breeze.

I'm sure the lighter coloured rock also is volcanic, the hot spot will have erupted not only basalt over time.
