Thank you Steve,

Your visit is most welcome!
Of course the return working of 'The Lindum Fayre' that you saw.
For me it was a rare chance to capture an express steam train at night, so your awards make me very happy!

Thank you Steve,

I am pleased that you like it.
I know how carefully you plan your astronomy shots, so your kind appreciation means a lot to me.
Knowing the train would be travelling at around 60MPH, I needed a quick enough shutter, and took a position to narrow the angle so it was more head on. Then find a suitable ISO, knowing the front of the loco is black. (The green is reflection off a signal light at the end of the platform).
Finally, stand and wait in the cold, and hope all the planning works!

My Dear Füsun,

Thank you so much for your very kind words here!
Perhaps an inspiration from a Cuneo painting?
As you know, I do like to make night time pictures, and am very happy that you enjoyed this one!

Hi Peter,

Beautifully taken night shot! I love that you have got the other photographer in the picture. I think you were in a better position than him!

Best wishes, Rosa.

Hi Rosa,
Thank you so much for your very kind visit.
I'm happy that you had a good look!!
There were a handful of photographers on the station, although very few had decent cameras. This guy will have had better light, but as you say, a very poor composition.
It will be making another trip tonight, but at the moment is is raining and blowing a gale, so I may give it a miss!

Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend,
Peter

Hi Peter !
Dramatic sky interrupted in the darkness by sudden flashes; a black locomotive waiting in a deserted station if it were not for the man in full light under the shelter (but what is he doing? :-) .. very intriguing and mysterious image, perfect for one of those film noir that I love a lot!
Thank you very very much indeed !
Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Bea,
Thank you for visiting!
I am pleased you found it interesting.
Railway stations can be very emotive places at night, especially with steam locomotives..
It is always the luck of the draw as to what will happen..
Maybe this guy is waiting for his girlfriend off the next train..

Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend,
Peter

Hi Stacy,

Thank you so much for your visit and kind words.
The chance to photograph a steam express train at night is very rare for us, and it is luck of the draw where the smoke goes, and what it looks like..

Sometimes it works, many times it doesn't!

We keep trying, but I am glad you like this one!

Best Wishes for the New Year!

Love the colors and how the steam/smoke shows off the criss-cross of wires. Very appealing.

This is a superb shot Peter. Full of drama, with the light and shadows, and sense of movement. I also like the fellow photographer on the platform.

All the best, Doug
