Hi Steve,

Thank you for your very quick visit, and appreciation. Of course this is Switzerland, so we don't get excuses here about 'wrong kind of snow' and 'leaves on the track'. Also worth noting that this is purely adhesion worked, and with some steep gradients too,

Best Wishes

My Dear Füsun,

Thank you so much! Your visit and kind words have made me happy!!
It is hard to believe that so much snow could be there in April, and even harder to believe that the trains keep running. But, as you say, this is Switzerland......!!!

Wonderful April photo, Peter. Great colour, and I love the striking red of the train against the beautiful backdrop.

Thank you Amelia,

As you can imagine, my reason for going was to get pictures like this!

Thank you Jaap,

Glad you like it. Certainly makes it worthwhile to trek through the deep snow to find the tunnel mouth!

Two things I like very much Peter, trains and snow. A superb shot.

Best wishes, Rosa.

Thank you so much Rosa,

As you know, I certainly like the trains too, but combined with snow there is so much more to go at. Many more will follow !!

Oh this is lovely. these shots always make me pine for the high mountain snows and peaks. I had planned once one of these Swiss train journeys but the nearest I got was the Bern to Interlaken then the Interlaken to Wengen/Eiger trains. But that is another story.
Cheers, Herb

Thank you so much Herb,

I am so pleased that you like the composition. It makes all the planning worthwhile.
Of course to get shots like this you must get off the train and do a little walking, but you would get lots of nice pics from the Bernina express shown here..

Best Wishes

Indeed Peter. I took lots of the little trains going up and down from Kleine Scheidegg to Wengen and Grindelwald but as time elapsed I noticed them changing to the now somewhat less interesting modern versions. We had once planned to do some special mountain train journeys to see lots of them including the Bernina express but it never happened.
ps I have now added special PiP for you in my 'Rouen Cathedral' shot. Herb

Thank you again Herb,
I certainly agree that the older locomotives look nicer! The Bernina express will appear in a number of Swiss photos soon, just as soon as I get round to processing them! Then maybe your Switzerland trip idea will emerge again! (I have a Switzerland album to make it easy...)
I also spent a long time pondering the PiP and perspective correction geometry. Thank you for the food for thought!

Thank you so much Alan

Your visit is most welcome. I remember reading something about how they make an exhibition of their rotary snow plough at work here. Certainly very necessary! Against the side of the road the snow was twice my height!

I'm dreaming of this in winter! You did well to get out of the train to get such wonderful photos! I'd like to travel with a Graubünden Pass where you can hop on and off as you like:-)
