As of Sunday, I moved to my sister's home here in Algete, 40 km northeast of Madrid and with great views of the Sierra de Guadarrama. In the centre of the skyline is the craggy outline of La Sierra de La Cabrera, a favourite walking and scrambling area. At the bottom of the shot is the hen coop. Lovely fresh eggs for breakfast!

Strange hand shape. I once knew what this granite oddity is called but I've long since forgotten. Behind is the summit of Cancho de La Bola, home of vultures.
La Cabrera town from El Cancho Gordo on the ridge…

The highest peak of the Sierra de Guadarrama, Peñalara, can be seen on the horizon to the right. Mid picture is the disused railway line that goes under the Sierra from where I took this photo and which I walked through a few years ago. Before Covid, there were plans to re-open the line, which only closed 8 years ago. I recall the trains.

A favourite tree.
Bird-like rock window
Sweet chestnut tree by the monastery wall.
Not a common sight nowadays.
Madrid in there somewhere
Iconic tree in La Sierra.
A vulture on (nearly) every pinacle!
