Sierra de La Cabrera, Lozoya Valley behind. An incredibly hot late summer's day.
My mushroom rock again!

I can't resist it! It is off the beaten track and I don't always find it but when I do it is like greeting an old friend!

Still mushroom in shape but not quite as mushroomy as seen from the other side and in some previous photos uploaded here.
Sierra de La Cabrera, Madrid Province.
You may have seen this little pebble before!

It's been a little while since my table made an appearance and I make no excuses for showing another shot of it!

Surmounting the overhang, El Cancho Largo.
In many of my photos from La Sierra de La Cabrera you can see a mushroom shaped rock at the top of the crest and, indeed, it is the highest point of the Sierra. This is it in close up. I have posted shots from all angles, even from above, over the years. It is also The Guardian of the Mountains in a few other shots!

It does have a name and it isn't this! Unfortunately, I forget what it is and I forget where I found out before!
The wonderful world of Sierra de la Cabrera granite. In the distance, Pico de La Miel.
I recall this as being the hottest day I have experienced in the sierra, so far!

Strange granite shape on the path up to El Cancho Gordo, It has a name which I knew but have since forgotten. Straight ahead is El Cancho de La Bola, haunt of Griffon Vultures.

Looking along the West Penwith coast eastward from Logan Rock, past Penberth Cove, Lamorna Cove and on eventually to Mousehole. 3 hours, or 4 if you stop to take photos!
Carn Galva.

Raised coastal platform from the summit of Carn Galva (Carn Galver on OS maps and Google).
The Cornish coast and Rosemergy Farm, Morvah Parish. As I have mentioned a couple of times before, those distant stone walls are thought to be some of the oldest continuously used stone structures (still used for their original purpose) anywhere in the world. (Possibly 7-8,000 years old).

Personally, I can't get enough of it - here and in Cornwall. Much as it may not seem like it, I do like other rocks too (limestone for example)!
More granite!

Sierra de La Cabrera. I find the granite shapes in this range endlessly fascinating.
