Well, it doesn't look freezing, but it definitely looks interesting. Are the two vertical stones placed that way by humans? Is that an old church in the distance? Great place, super photo, Andy!

It was a monastery at one time, a convent once and the Goya family home as well.. The granite stones are the remains of granite quarrying over millennia.

Well, it's what I read somewhere; it could have been distant family for all I know! I was shown round it once by the caretaker lay brother from the village and I have posted one or two interior shots of it some years ago. I can't fish them out now as I'm back in hospital due to this frustrating long COVID and various complications (due back out again tomorrow) but will see what I can find.

Yes, where the granite predominates! There are a few more Sierras with similar granite landscapes both in Central Spain and in Portugal! This is the one I know best.
