Torre A

Torre A
Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid. Sept 2020. I was driven past here yesterday and it still didn't look any further completed even though they have resumed playing matches here this season.

It seems to be the way of things doing a bit to numerous projects instead of finishing one before starting the next one. May be it's the same firm that is supposed to be rebuilding the bus station in Leicester the months go bye and nothing happens there

It's the construction company owned by the chairman of the club and, as with all such clubs not 'blessed' with Saudi or Gulf patronage, suffering difficult financial times.

So they are still playing football in this arena, despite it not being finished. I just hope the field and the changing rooms are finished though,

They resumed playing matches here a couple of weeks ago. Before that they played at their training ground and seeing as there were no spectators then due to covid, it didnt really matter. Now, as with the UK and other countries, fans are back in the stadiums so I presume they couldn't afford to miss the gate receipts. Yes, I presume they do have hot running water in the changing rooms!

Well at least they can still play there Andy. It will be nice one day, when you can show us the finished building :-)

Take care and have a good week.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne
Thank you, Rosa. They have only just returned there. They were playing at their training ground which didn't matter much because there were no fans anyway due to covid restrictons!

One would think that they are working furiously, judging from the all the cranes. Very nice image. I like the chaotic angles of the differently colored cranes and the "organized" helical stripes of the tower. Nice to see you gradually coming back, Andy.

Thank you, Rashid but this was taken last year and as I saw it a few days ago (on the way to yet another set of hospital tests) I saw that very little progress seemed to have been made in over a year. The club and owner would appear to have run out of funds like so many other clubs!

Anything like here in the UK there is a huge shortage of building materials and many building projects have come to a halt..

Seems to be the case here too. Hoping all goes well with you in the coming weeks, Maurice!

Totally detached from the Bernabeu, I admire this composition of intersecting lines and volumes, recorded with its own order, which visually thrilled me from the first impact.
I love the sections of the vivid yellow and green cranes across which give lively dynamism
.All the best, Bea

What a marvelous building! I am guessing that it's a parking structure? Sorry to hear its been under "forever construction"...so many projects are like that it seems!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Janet Brien club
Thank you, Janet. It's a spiral stairway to get to the upper stadium seats. It was a revolutionary architectural construction when built (1920s?) and there is one on each corner of the stadium, but soon to be demolished in favour of a horrible new edifice.

That's an impressive structure Andy. Like a lot of builds -stuck in a time warp during the Pandemic. Great catch, well done..

Hope you continuing to get better. Herb

Andy Rodker club has replied to Herb Riddle club
Thank you, Herb!
Well, they were building all through the pandemic last year but seem to have slowed down to a standstill now. I suspect that the lack of stadium receipts has had a serious effect on many clubs' finances, including those of the giants of the game!
