Veo las piedras neolíticas y realmente tendrá su valor. Pero al ver la foto me he preguntado ¿Porque se formarán esas manchas blancas de la mar al embestir contra las rompientes y permanecen un tiempo sin disgregarse? ¿Será que al chocar la mar contra las rocas sale espuma blanca y se mantiene sazonada con el salitre marino?

I have never known anything different around these coasts so you may be right.
I remember asking the same question when I was a child, thinking it might be pollution and, while I can't now remember the answer I was given, it definitily wasn't caused by pollution!
The rock is all granite here.

Thank you, Judite. Probably not used as a field now but still used as boundary markers between farm properies I suspect! Here, obviously a field edge and at one time substantial enough to keep cattle from straying down the cliffs. 8,000 years of severe Atlantic weather has reduced the walls to these mere stubs!

8,000 years ago and I imagine the walls would have been substantial enough to do the job, Ron!
But Atlantic storms are fierce and often destructive and I'm amazed we can still follow the line of these walls; a testament to the building skills of those early farmers!

Not completely sure about that. In many cases you're quite right, especilly where the rock is softer than granite, but here it's granite and I should think less quick to erode.

I didn't mean to give anyone a shiver, Annalia and am struggling to see how that could be but if I did, I apologise! If you mean being close to the edge, I am standing on the coast path which crosses left to right (or right to left) some distance away from the edge. Appearances can be deceptive, but nothing along these lines was intended!!!!!

I meant an exciting shiver, Andy, not a terrifying one! :) And yes, the POV gives the appearance of standing right at the edge. I am not afraid of heights and even did some mountain climbing when I was younger, so to me that feeling is more thrilling than scary. Although, of course, the perception of being at the edge of a precipice always entails a heightened sense of danger. Sorry I made you think I disliked the image when it is quite the opposite!

No worries, Annalia! It's only after your comment that I realised that it was possible to see the drop in that light! I suppose I don't notice these things because, like you, I did a lot of rock climbing in my teens and twenties! Have a good weekend!

Wow, thank you for explaining those huge rocks to us. I never knew about these being originally there as a field wall, and I've often seen them on the top of the cliffs around here.
