That was the old life !! no doubt a lot less passengers now, it looks a modern station with good wide platforms plenty of room for social distancing

Thank you Peter. I wasn't impressed when I first encountered this station but it has grown on me over the years!

I am always impressed with Spanish stations............they always look so clean and well kept...........unlike most of ours!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Keith Burton club
Thank you, Keith.
They used to employ armies of tiny (they were ALWAYS tiny, don't ask me why!) South and Central American ladies who swept the platforms and forecourts to within an inch of their lives every minute of the day at all metro and mainline stations.
The recession in Spain of 2011-12 put paid to that but still, the stations get a thorough cleaning 2-3 times a day and now a full disinfect every morning before opening.
I was a regular commuter on main line and tube transport in London from the late 70s to about 2000 and I agree with you that it was filthy then. But I understood that it had improved and been tidied up a lot since then.

Those were the carefree days.... I have used public transport only once (with a N95/FFP2 mask) since the virus struck and am not keen to repeat the experience.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Gudrun club
Me too, and that was for a blood test and as the clinic opened at 7 am, I thought I would catch the first bus, hopefully empty and recently disinfected. That was in April and I was the only passenger on a bus trip right across Madrid. I was first in line and the clinic smelt of recent disinfectant. i was in and out in 5 minutes and caught the return bus where at most 3 other passengers got on. And that's all!
Amazing to think that in February I was making between 8 and 12 metro and bus journeys every day!

Gudrun club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Even when this is over I don't think all people will return to what they did before, many have found out how much time commuting has cost them:-)
