Granite. Torre de Valdemanco, Sierra de La Cabrera
Amazingly, my first walk in the Sierra de La Cabrera since December 2015!
And it hasn't changed a bit!

Undoubtedly, it has changed, but your time scale is too short. ;-) Very interesting geology.

It was tongue in cheek, Ron. Yes, I love this granite scenery.

Up this side and down the other, then round back to here which was not far from my starting point. Just a gentle re-introduction to the area after an 18 month lay-off due to illness - now fully recovered!).
Many safe paths and, if you feel a little bit more adventurous, some exciting scrambles, but nothing too exposed or difficult!. I like the choice and it depends on my mood and energy levels on the day! But, actually this is just the lower western end of a long ridge. I went on to the highest peak on the ridge before returning. A pleasant walk in 22 c, 70 f and a gentle breeze; perfect walking weather!
- but thank you for your concern for my well-being, Laura. :o)

Have just added to your group Naturey Crap - Crappy nature, Laura - thanks for the invite! - still feel very unsure about the group name though!!! :o)
7 years ago. Edited 7 years ago.
raingirl club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Thanks for adding - the name is misleading, but it is tongue in cheek really. The group description explains it comes from two points of view: "1) "For those of us that really hate nature photos, but take them anyway. We may even do it well, and that pisses us off even more." ------------- 2) "Many people feel that their nature images are inadequate, or 'crappy'. This group welcomes any nature shots, even if they are crappy!" Maybe you don't fit in either category, but your nature photos are still welcome!!

So glad you are better - and walking in places you enjoy again!!

Diane Putnam club has replied to raingirl club
Andy is concerned about use of the word "crappy," which is more shocking in the UK than here. Or, something like that. We had a fun discussion about it, but don't remember where...

Now, every time I say, "Oh, crap!" I'll think of Andy! Hehe...

You say the nicest things, Diane!

But I got to musing ...
We say 'shit' a lot, without thinking (OK, The Times still prints s..t).. But this was anathema to my parents' generation. I learn't this when I was helping my Dad put up some shelving in his wine shop and I hit my thumb with a hammer. ... 'SSSSSHHEEEEEIIIIIIIITT' rang out. (I actually wanted to shout out 'F...........CK!', But because my Dad was nearby, I was just about able to restrain myself).
My Dad's immediate response wasn't 'Are you alright?' but 'ANDREW!!!!! I NEVER want to hear you use such OBSCENE language in my presence EVER AGAIN!!!'
It's just one example of the interesting and wonderful thing about the ever-changing facets of our language.
Still ... c..p is ... well, still c..p!

That's right Steve. They use these rocks for rock-climbing practice and courses. The climbs here are at the low to medium degree of difficulty so are excellent to train on.

I see someone has been kind enough to cut steps for you! But, really, you climbed that? I am impressed, Andy! :-o Dramatic nature-shot!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Diane Putnam club
Thanks Diane. No need to be impressed. There are some easy routes in there. Yes I have walked up there ( I stress walked - no climbing involved, seriously!) many times. On Saturday I went up by a route to the left of the shot and to a much higher peak than this tiddler before returning. I would have posted from the top but have uploaded many from the top, including ones where the summit ridge is clothed in a sea of fog, that I don't want to overdo it. I didn't recall posting many from down here though which is why it is here.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Peter_Private_Box club
Thank you, Peter.
Yes it was. And the routes are really no more than walks in many cases! I'd put it on a par with Tryfan! It is the craggy granite scenery that a) makes these look like mighty mountains and b) hides the easy paths from view. Of course you can make it complicated to get up there if you want!!
Best wishes,
Andy
