The Window
This is the narrow gap through which all the water that falls in the Chisos Basin exits. The Chisos Basin lies in the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park and is one of the most popular parts of the park. We hiked the narrow canyon that leads to the Window when in Big Bend earlier in the year, something that can be done only when it is dry. We did not get close enough to get photos from the edge of the gap since the area is somewhat dangerous, but beyond the gap is a sheer cliff down which the water falls.

Have a sunny week ahead.
The landscape in the background seems to be also beautiful
Thanks for sharing and also for the information, Ron
I'm glad you enjoyed my robin pictures, as obsequious as they truly are. We see them wherever we go and often on our hikes, where they inexplicably land on the trail dozens of yards in front of us and then charge forward to keep ahead of us before giving up and flying off...OR another dozen yards ahead again! :D Those funny birds....charge forward, stop, listen, tilt head...and then rinse and repeat! :D I was so happy to get these pictures and what a wonderful surprise when I looked at them on my computer and noticed the surprise of a post bath state with wet feathers! What fun. There's no price for the joy I get, being able to zoom in on birdies and other wildlife with that Sony camera. It's just the very best. How happy I am to share the pictures with everyone too, so we can all enjoy my discoveries together! :)
Holy heat stroke Batman, 105 at your place?! UGH!!! I didn't realize your home entered the land of Hades too when the heat peaks. We also hit that number the other day...it's been like an inferno but finally cooling off some. Had the back door and window open in my room last night and this morning it was a lovely 65 in my room without needing a fan or air conditioner. Hooray!
I think we all think alike in regards to getting our vehicles and living arrangements just so and not being able to relax until things are right. We must have things the way they should be if it's possible. When we find something that doesn't work it bugs us relentlessly until it's fixed, problem solved. Steve wants to make sure things are as perfect as possible for this next trip so he's not going to stop until everything is the way he wants. :) And I have been filling in blanks where I can too. The end result is just so satisfying.
Sorry to hear that your new backpack frame was garbage. That totally sucks but hopefully it wasn't too much of a problem on the trail. Sometimes tried and true golden oldies are just the way to go, even if they aren't shiny and new. They're as they should be, reliable and don't need fixin'!
I'm glad you and Neal had such a great time on your trip. I know what you mean about how you two fought as kids and are good friends now. I wouldn't say my oldest brother and I are buddies that hang out (hilarious concept), but we're friends who see eye to eye and love and trust each other. As kids he would torture me by doing things like hanging me out of an upper story window by one leg, or sitting on me and forcing me to listen to his heavy metal music at volume 10...he wasn't nice. But some years ago he came to me, hat in hand and apologized deeply for the way he treated me when we were younger. We had a long, healing talk about our relationship and since then we are on the same page and our mutual respect and admiration flows happily between us. Doug is far too different for us to have a close friendship but we appreciate one another and keep tabs to make sure all is well. Personally, I would love to spend time with him but well, he's just too much of a narcissist and selfishly focused on all things him. I get it...I'm like that in some ways too but he's way too self-absorbed and lacks any real interest in others it seems. Ah well...I love that crazy genius so much! :)
Ok, I'm off! I hope you have a super day and thanks for all of your attention! :) <3
