Bon Dimanche.
"Fleurs ma passion"
The other views are wonderful too, I particularly like the river scene...Steve would wonder if it would be a nice place to fish! Heh! :)
We are on Whidbey Island right now and will be leaving tomorrow morning to go 4 hrs to our next destination in Oregon, an overnight just outside Portland. We are excited to see our little girl but yet, we've had a lovely time as we've been making our way south.
Hopped from Vancouver Island to Anacortes to this place on Whidbey Island, just outside Deception Pass State Park. We visited the iconic trestle bridge and went on a hike...so many pictures...and omg the TRAFFIC and HOARDS of people! The pedestrian walkway over the bridge is adequate for 1 thin person but everyone sort of mooshes past us without moving over, we wonder what would happen if we were heavy? Perhaps a situation where one or the other would have to back up to the beginning of the bridge to pass! LOL...the sights from that bridge are simply STAGGERING! Scary too for me as I am afraid of heights unless I really concentrate on not thinking about it, lol...but you must look down to the water flowing under the bridge, it's just incredible to see, and the bull kelp at the sides, the swirling eddies...it's all just so cool...
Will go on another hike today, should be another awe-inspiring series of eye-popping views. Haven't been bothering with any camera other than my phone, as it's proving to do the job just fine for scenics. A sad thing about this trip is because it was such an outlay of coin to do it, and we had limited time at each place, being in the right mental place to relax into my macro creeping mode happened only a few times. A total pity. There wasn't time for me to just disappear into the moment. If we went hiking, I couldn't feel comfortable enough to bring my macro lens because there was no time for creeping. In the end, we realized that the problem with a trip like this one is that the very fact of being finite at every point removed the freedom to spend time just creeping around. I always felt like we must use the time to do more expansive things at each place. Our next big trip will be full-timing with stays of 3-4+ weeks at each place so I can actually feel relaxed enough to be creative...writing, processing pictures, and as mentioned, losing myself in macro photography. *sigh*
Anyway, we'll be home soon and I'm hoping I'll be able to reconstruct my memories along the way as I organize pictures and process what I can.
Do you guys still have family running around? It's pretty darn cool that your kin think you're cool enough to hang out with...it's not all that usual as you know. I liked moving up to Oregon partly to be AWAY from my dad, whose controlling ways made me insane. It makes me happy that you are a Grandpa Tree for the kids to crawl on and hang from, be tossed in the air and swung around. What an all-around groovy dude you are, Ron! :)
Ok, off I go, we has a hike to go on! (BTW, just finished pancakes with blackberry syrup made from 14 cups of blackberries we picked at our campsite at Port Alberni! :) We have, I believe, 3 quart-sized ziplocks of berries in the freezer too...we will enjoy them for months into the future!
