Mount Adams
Mount Adams is one of the many active stratovolcanos in the Cascades that form a chain reaching from British Columbia to California. It is the second highest mountain in the state of Washington after Mount Rainier but much more remote. This photo was taken from a turnoff along Highway 97 south of Goldendale and Brooks Memorial State Park and just before descending into the Columbia River Gorge.
On our recent trip through Washington, Oregon and California we spent our first night in Blewett Pass south of Leavenworth, Washington, and spent some time in that area the next morning before traveling south through Yakima to the Columbia River Gorge. Before reaching the gorge we spent some time in Brooks Memorial State Park where we hunted for orchids and other wildflowers and did some hiking.

Looks like a little bit like Fujiyama... :-))
Have I mentioned lately how much I love your wonderful missives? :D And, lolol...it's amusing that we both spend perhaps far too much time writing back and forth but it's great fun because we are such peas in a pod. Perhaps you have taken the place of my brother Scott, who I miss every day...I know I told you about him--he died at age 37 in a freak accident, electrocuted when working on an organ which hadn't been unplugged...he was a wonderful but troubled guy who showed me that photography could be a creative outlet, though I wouldn't dive into that pool for many more years. I miss him so much. I think that you are who I wished Scott's life could have evolved into, though I am sure it wouldn't have...he was a troubled fellow with deep problems with alcohol and paranoia...I always wished I could have helped him. A natural comedian and the funniest person I've ever met--he would have done well had he pursued comedy as a career. Think John Belushi mixed with Robin Williams with a bit of Billy Crystal tossed into the mix. If I was able to make Scott laugh, he was totally delighted with me and I felt so great because I admired his knack for gut-busting hilarity so much! :)
Anyway, you fill his shoes in a creative sense and it's nice to have you around to admire on a constant basis. Do have Nancy give you a peck on the cheek for me! :)
Glad you enjoyed my Diamond Lake pictures...it really is a stunning local! And your philosophy on fishing is perfect. Read it to Steve, he loved it and said that it would be so nice to some day sit around a campfire with you and Nancy and enjoy the evening chatting. I concur. :)
LOL...weeding and mowing and procrastinating, oh my! :D Much too much to do every day! Heh on you being impressed with our schedule...our intent is to make you proud, hah! lol :D Steve got 99% of the reservations for Vancouver Island done at L.L. Stub Stewart...seriously, we don't know what the deal is but things seem to be planned for us to happen in a way that it seems "meant to be"...how nice it was to have undistracted chunks of time to do the research and calls necessary for planning that 6-week trip!
We've been very busy though, that's for sure. Brought Pumpkin to the vet yesterday for a check up, micro-chipping and paperwork. The trailer is at the shop to get bearings repacked again on one tire--they'd made a mistake and happily we discovered before we went to Canada! Steve has replaced the stupid, cheapo slides in the kitchen drawers and at the same time, made them 50% deeper! He also built two sliding drawers under the dinette seats--they are AMAZING!!! And he'll be making two drawers to go under the master bed too. It's just RIDICULOUS how they expect you to remove the cushions in the dinette and pull up a cheapo piece of plywood to get into the space underneath. The space under the bed is much worse...fold back the covers, get another person to help fold back the mattress, and then HOIST the heavy board up to get into the space underneath. OMG...NO! Soon we'll have so much more space, and all because of SUPER STEVE!! :D
Heh, yeah, the ferry to Vancouver Island AIN'T cheap. Now, imagine taking an RV with you, RT! Suddenly a "normal" trip IS cheap in comparison! But well, it's unavoidable and well worth it in the end so we've got our reservations in place and our trips are paid for and in place, hooray!
Finally, how nice that you have that beautiful mariposa lily species growing where you live. We are both so very lucky to have a species on our properties! :)
Ok, I too, have many things to do today so off I go! :D Have a super day!
All the PiPs are absolutely gorgeous!
